The story

Francis Costigan was born on March 4, 1810, in Washington, D.C. He trained as a carpenter in Baltimore, married Eliza C. Taylor in 1835, and moved to Madison in 1837. Their children were Frank, Sarah (Sallie), and Theodore. By 1850 he was listed as a carpenter with real estate in Madison. The family later moved to Indianapolis, where he practiced as an architect. The 1851 house on West Third Street is the compact Madison house associated with that career.

Schedules can change for events, restoration, or the season. The dates above come from the same tour calendar as the Events page.
